Amendment to the CFCE Constitution & Bylaws Passes

At the Fall 2007 General Membership Meeting, a proposed amendment to the CFCE Constitution & Bylaws was brought before the membership. The proposed amendment to Article IV, Section 1 read as follows:

Any eligible classified employee of the Coast District who joins the local is a member as soon as the enrollment card form is submitted to the secretary/treasurer an Executive Council member of the local, and will remain a member of the local until the secretary/treasurer Union Office is notified in writing, by the employee, between June 1 and June 30 of each year, of their intent to resign. at the end of the current contract with the Coast Community College District.

Because a quorum was not present at the General Membership meeting, the proposed Amendment was placed before the membership using ballots sent through the U.S. Postal Service. Ballots were mailed to all members-in-good-standing on January 15, 2008. The deadline for receiving the ballots was February 12, 2008. In the final tally, 96% of the ballots were marked “Yes” and 4% “No”. All of the ballots and other election materials will be filed in the Union office.
