Contract Negotiations Update

The Coast Federation of Classified Employees is gearing up for contract negotiations. According to our contract, during 2007-2008 academic year the CFCE can select one article for re-opener. The current Negotiations Committee, which consists of Connie Marten (GWC), Ann Nicholson (OCC), Neal Kelsey, Executive Director and Mary Millet, CFT Field Representative, notified the CCCD District of our desire to open Article 14, Hours and Overtime. This particular article has many areas believed to need clarification in the existing language.

The process begins by “sun-shining” our intent to reopen this article to the CCCD Board of Trustees. At the next CCCD Board of Trustees meeting, the article will be open for public comment. Negotiations will begin shortly thereafter, around the first part of May. At this time, the District has not presented any articles to reopen.

A survey will be going out to members in the bargaining unit via email, which asks for input from ALL bargaining unit members regarding topics found within Article 14. Please take a few minutes to complete this important survey so that your Negotiations Committee can go to the bargaining table with a more informed understanding of some of the issues involving Hours and Overtime.
